Barley, for prime malting samples meets with a fair enquiry at from 4s 2d to 4s fid per bushol ; inferior kinds' at 3s. • Potatoes have been largely dealt in during the week, and a considerable tonnage of the tuber* have left our shores for Syd- ,. ney and', elsewhere where the markets '' ’offer favorable returns to shippers. The, ' weather has been very fine for the period of the year, and no severe frosts of any -- - kind have been experienced yet. Farmers are employed in getting land ready t fpr -cropping,! and owing.to the fine weather a fair acreage has alro \dy been sown.- We note with pleasure the very satisfactory sale of farou-land which was hold on Friday last, * This land .consisted o( some ,of the Longb.each estate. The price realised averaged a little over Ll2 per acre. This shows that really good land' will sell at very satisfactory rates, even .when large quantities are submitted to the-ham->f , “er. • • Com Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the 19th instant:—There is no alteration to note in the state of'the market , during the past week. The market continues firm, with business, however, rather, dull. Wheat.—Good sound milling samples are worth from 4s gd to 4s nd per bushel;’ f.0.b.; second quality wheat, 4s 3d to J 4s 6d per bushel; *.}- chick wheat, 3s 6d to 3s gd per bushel} seed wheat, Js to $s 3d per bushel. Oats. - Good *-[>' ' st out milling- samples are worth from 3s Id to 3s 4d per bushel; feed quality, 2d per bushel * less. Barley.—The market continues dull. A slightly better feeling has been visible, during the past week, hut values are unaltered. Prime malting samples may be quoted at from 4s 6d to 4s- yd per bushel; second-class quality, 3s 6d to 4s 3d per bushel. Beans are worth from 4s id to 4s 2d, delivered in Christchurch. * , Potatoes.—Business dining the week has been transacted at from 33s to 36s per ton at country stations within ten miles of Chrjstcburch, sacks extra.
