OPENING OF PARLIAMENT.
[bv telegraph.J Wellington, To-day. Parliament was opened at 2 o’clock by the Commissioners, the Hon. Sir W. Fitzherbert, the Hon. Major Richmond, and the Hon. F. Whitaker. The Com mission having been real, Sir W. Fitzherbort stated that at 2 o’clock to-morrow his Excellency would atten I iti person to disclose his reasons for calling the present session together. In the meantime, it was necessary that the House of Representatives should elect a Speaker, an(l present him to the Governor at noon tomorrow. On the members ra-assembling in the House, the Commission was read authorising Major Campbell to swear in members. The following members were then sworn :—Messrs George, Hurst, Mitchelson, Peacock, Grey, Dargavillo, Swartson, Hvnlin, Oardmin, Whyte, Morris, and W.iitaker. The pro*; cess is still going on. j
