THE LIBRARY SITE.

Sib, —I am both surprised and annoyed to..find that the question of site, which we hid all imagined was finally settled, is not so. I learn on the best authority that the Library Committee, taking advantage of 'the split in the camp occasioned by the objections raised to the use of the Eire Brigade reserve, are quietly agitating for the selection of the old site, which seems to have charms for the Committee, which are quite unappreciated by the public at large. The Library Committee no doubt are a very important body and, fondly imagaiue that they are going to erect the Library just wherever they please. Of course the public meeting called to decide the vexed question of site is to count for nothing ; the resolution passed at that meeting did not happen to concede with the ideas of tjhe five committeemen on the subject, and so they have, apparently, made up their minds to ignore it, despite the fact that one or two of the said committeemen have expressed themselves in favor of the Fire Brigade site. Whatever is done, I am satisfied of one thing, Sir, and that is, that any interference on the part of the Committee with the public wish on this public matter will be fought against Tooth and Nail.
