A REPLY.

! TO THE EDITOR. ’ I Sir, —I see by your issue of the 12tl ’ inst. that “A Resident of Alford Forest,’ ’ j who possibly has not been so very lon' |. I in that neighborhood, and who I daresay . I hails from the metropolis of Springburn, ’ ( contradicts my report of the Mount ' I Somers Young Men’s Mutual Improve- . ment Society, held at Mount Somers I schoolroom, on the (sth inst. In reply to I that august resident, I beg again to say that the report of that meeting as it ap- | peared in your columns was a true and I correct one. Your correspondent had I nothing to do with the calling of that I meeting, but the appointment of that I meeting was actually made by the Alford I Forest men, and the advertisement anI nouncing the same, which appeared in I your paper, was signed by Mr W. Lambie, I who lives very near the desired spot I called Springburn. With regard to the I ill-feeling or otherwise existing beI tween Mount Somers and Alford Forest, your correspondent has nothing whatever to do. What was reported was actually said in so many words, but now your correspondent challenges the re; i lent of Alford Forest to point out one instance where the two districts have pulled together for their mutual benefit and advantage during his long residence in Alford Forest, of which he professes to know so much, and your correspondent will engage to announce to the next meeting of the Mount Somers Young Men’s Mutual Improvement Society, at, which he may be present, that the remarks made by some of its members on the 6th inst. were most uncharitable—lam, etc., Your Mount Somers Correspondent. May 15.
