THAT LIBRARY SITE.
To the Editor. Sib,—lt was quite refreshing to notice the unantmity which characterised the meeting in the Town Hall the other evening re the Library site. The Mayor suggested a portion of the Fire Brigade station site as the neplus ultra of Library Bites, and the meeting at once applauded and settled the matter off hand, and everybody went home apparently perfectly satisfied with themselves and each other in having performed a meritorious and patriotic action for which they would receive a sure and certain reward in the sweet bye and bye. But, Sir, it so happens that there is still another party to be consulted before the Library is erected on the latest proposed site. It did not seem that any of the speakers at that meeting thought it would be just as well I to ask the Fire Brigade how they felt about the matter. Probably the Mayor and some of the councillors who so coolly recommended the proposed spoliation of the Fire Brigade's property are not aware that the Brigade have certain vested rights, and, although they are a patient and long-suffering body of men, still they are human, and have feelings as to the ownership of property nearly, if not quite, as acute as the Borough Councillors, and will not for the vote of any public meeting give ud their section without receiving a " Q° ID Pbo Q do -
