Consols remain at New Zealand securities are unchanged, at the following quotations : Five per Cent. 10.40 Loan, Five per Cent. 1889 Loan, 103, ex div.; Four-and-a-Half per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, has fallen to 54s , New Zealand do, to 51s. Adelaide flour, ex store, has declined to 365. Australian tallow is unchanged, at 42s for best beef, and 43s 6d for best mutton. Arrested on Suspicion. London, May 9. Several persons who recently arrived from the United States have been arrested by the police in Ireland, on suspicion of being concerned in the schemes of the land league. -Secretary for Ireland. It is announced that George Otto Treveylyn, Secretary to the Admiralty, has been appointed Chief Secretary for Ireland, but without a seat. Denied. A Cabinet statement was circulated yesterday that the Lord Mayor of London had been requested to summon a public meeting with the object of petitioning the Queen to dissolve Parliament. This is authoritatively denied. No Chinese Need Apply. New York, May 9. The new Chinese Exclusion Bill, prohibiting Chinese immigration to the United States for a period of ten years, which recently passed the Senate and the House of Representatives, has received the assent of President Arthur.
