•i) i .Ashburton Guardian Office, . Monday Afternoon. Mr Alfred Harrison reports his weekly sale % as'follows :—Saturday, May 6th. Any number of horses were entered, and a fair proporj - tkin sdkl at values very low. Pigs, all pens cleared; prices firm for all good sorts, from 60s to 100 s each. Fowls, is 6d to 2s 6d per diteks; 3s qd per pair. Harness sold well. Good ploughs sold well, and are asked for. Produce, blue Derwent potatoes, 60s per J tonchick wheat, 3s per bushel; barley, 2S 6d; onions, id per lb. Tea, 21s per box. Sundries veiy heavy, attendance good, though very late in turning up, and over brisk when they did come. Mr T. Bullock reports, fur the week ending May 6th Horse Market—At the Bazaar, Burnett street, on Saturday, there was rather more than an average attendance of farmers and country settlers, and more spirited biddings than’at previous sale, more especially foi useful farm, horses; aged horses, and inferior a number changed hands, but at " very low prices. This description of stock is difficult to get rid of, and there appears to be no demand for hacks. The entries for the day were 40, of the usual description, a large pro.l portion of which were sold, namely 24. Good . f draught horses—A few were entered and sold, , -at the following prices, which is better than - they have been for some lime back, namely:- - L 23,, L 24, and as high as L 33 ; medium .idraughts, Ll 3 ios, Ll 4 10s, Ll 6 ios, L 23; ■ >aged horses and inferior draughts, L 7 ios, L 6 10s, L 9 ios, 1.7 lOS. Three unbroken colts, two-2 years old and one 3 years, brought LlB the three. Others, 2 years old, in rather low condition, L 7, LB, and L 5; a few inferior from L. 3 -105 to L 5 ios; scrubbers as low as 30s. Second-hand spring trap, Lx6 2s 6d. Landed Properties.—Mr T. Bullock reports having held a sile of town, suburban, and other properties, at the Bazaar, Burnett street, on Saturday, May 6th, There was a fair attendance, and for some town properties a very tsp}ritpd bidding, but for suburban properties thie bidding was languid ; nevertheless, a number were sold at what may be considered satisfactory prices to the vendors, particulars of which are given below. Town section numbered 504, containing a quarter of an acre, having a frontage on Wills street and Wakanui road; unimproved, broughtL33s- Townsection, 436, Tancred street, also unimproved, and situated rather low, brought LB2. Lots 82, 83,84, and 85, suburban allotments, each containing a quarter of an acre, and known as Walsh’s paddock, realised L 75 the lot. Lots 62 and 63, near the Alford Forest road, known as Orr’s block, L 22. Lot 26, on the Town Belt north, known as Mrs McLean’s land, brought Li 7 ios. Lot 28, L. 15 ios. Lots 27 . find 28, near the Gasworks, L3l the two. Lot oy/Tirtvvald, sold by order of the mortgagee, brought Lr 6. Several other properties were offered,but biddings not reaching owners limits were passed.
