[per press association.] Fishy. Auckland, To-day. The formal opening of the Kaipara Canning Company’s works eventuated on Saturday. The company propose canning fish, especially mullet, and have a plant capable of turning out 3,000 one pound tins per day. Lost in the Bush. Mr George Furn, geologist and botanist, in the employ of the German Government, has been lost in the bush at Coromandel since Friday. The weather has been bitterly cold, and small hopes are entertained for his safety. Business and mining operations are entirely suspended, as the male population is being engaged in the search. Supreme Court. New Plymouth, To-day. At the Supreme Court after the Judge had taken his seat this morning, the Crown Prosecutor intimated that he intended to ask permission to enter a nolle prosequi in the case of Titokowaru and Rangi, charged under the “ West Coast Settlement Act.” The Judge said-He would look into the application, and decide on it during the coarse of to-day Edward Jackman was being charged with stealing a horse from a native. The case is proceeding.
