The English papers are displeased at American interference with the Lamson case. The German press, commenting on the subject, says, <l From a country liich upholds the old Monroe doctrine, interference is meddlesome.” Edmunds’ Polygamy Bill passed Congress on the 14th hy a vote of 199 to 42. By its provisions all polygamists are disfranchised, and rendered ineligible to hold office. An unforseen difficulty in the operation of the new law is the filling of official vacancies, where nearly all the offices are held by Mormons, most of | whom are polygamists.
