THE GREAT ROWING MATCH.

[Bv Cable.] London, May 1. The sculling race between Edward Hanlan, of Toronto, champion of the world, and Edward Trickett, of Sydney, for LSOO a-side, took place to-day, over the usual course on the Thames, and resulted in a victory for Hanlan by four lengths. The victory was the easiest that can be imagined. He stopped three times during the race, and literally “ played ” with Trickett. The weather was very fine, the sun shining brightly, and the water was perfectly smooth. Large crowds of people witnessed the contest from the banks of the river and along the course.
