[per press association.] A Great Day in Auckland. Auckland, To-day. To-day is observed as a close holiday in celebration of the forty-second anniversary of the unfurling of the British flag in New Zealand by Governor Hobson. It is splendid weather for the regatta, and the aquatic picnics which constitute the chief sports. Entries for the various races are not so numerous as usual. In the schooner race the competitors are schooners Gisborne, Sybil, Transit, and Torea. The great interest centres in the yacht race, two new yachts being entered. For the sculling match Carter and White have entered. King Tawhaiao is aboard v,he flag-ship watching the races. Mr Bolleston on bis Travels. Dunedin, To-day. The Hon.
