[per press association.] The Enquiry Into the Wreck of the City of Cashmere. Timaru, To-day. The enquiry into the wreck of the City of Cashmere was resumed this morning. Several witnesses were examined to show that the vessel bumped before the attempt was made to tow her out, a point on which there was a conflict of evidence, and also as to whether the ship could not have been kedged back to her place. This the witnesses considered somewhat doubtful. The enquiry was adjourned for a week to enable the last cable to be lifted. The anchor and one portion of the cable have been picked up ; the chain is buried in the clay soil. The harbor master says the diver must dig it out. The hull was offered for sale yesterday, but only LIOO was bid for it, and it was bought in by the captain for the owners to be offered again Householders Views On Board Elections. At a meeting of householders last nigh’. a strong expression of opinion took place against the present system of electing Boards of Education, and it was affirmed that committees should have votes on a sliding scale, according to the number of children.
