London Seed Trade. Messrs John Shaw and Sons, of 37, Mark lar.e, London, E.C., report through their agent, iWr Leonard W. Blake, of Christchurch, that the market during the fortnight ending December Ist, 1881, was extremely quiet, and not much improvement was expected until the turn of the year. Eed Clover, though somewhat neglected, was not jiiaierially weaker, except for the poorer gjraclea of foreign, which failed to find bujlersi. Fine English Cow Grass and Eedj Clover was in poor supply and quickly sold. White Clover was unchanged! not much doing in it, but full prices viere maintained. Alsyke continued vliry firm, with a brisk demand for finest qualities. There are some very choice. tiamples of English Alsyke this year, wl ich entirely eclipse everything else as t< quality, and being cheaper than foreign ind a ready sale at advancing prices. 'Trefoil, Italian and Perennial Bye grasses were quiet, without change in values. Timothy was 'firmer, and the opinion appeared to bo gaining ground that fine coloury seed will be fully as dear as last -fear, but poor and discoloured seeds nmy be quoted weaker than in our last report. Canary and Hemp, with a fair demand, must again be noted slightly cheaper, j ______
