UPPER ASHBURTON ROAD BOARD
The annual meeting of the! above was held at Westerfield yesterdi y. The attendance was but limited. The balance-sheet, showing the receipts to be L 3.767 3s 4d, and the expenditure L 4,077 7s, with an overdraft of L3|.o 3s, was read and considered. The nomination of Candida es was then proceeded with as follows : So. 1 Ward —Mr D. McLean, proposed IyMro. J. Harper, and seconded by M: W. Bennison—No. 2 Ward—Mr C. J. Barper, proposed by Mr M. Stitt, and 1 econded by Mr A. McLeod. No. 3 W ird—Mr J. Sargeant, proposed by Mr Bi nnison, and seconded by Mr W. Fraser. No. 4 Ward —Mr M. Stitt, proposed iby Mr A. McLeod, and seconded by Mr J. Sargeant. No. 5 Ward—Mr D. Williamson, proposed by Mr W. Fraser, and seconded Mr W. Bennison. Messrs McLean, Harper, Sergeant, Stitt, aud Williamson were declared duly elected without opposition fe the respective wards for? which the r had been nominated. | Following the! election, the new Board met, when Mr D. McLean was elected chairman, and the proceed ngs shortly afterwards terminated. I
