[per reuter’s AGENCY. I -- Monetary and Commercial. London, Jan. 5. Consols are quoted to-day at par. The total reserve in the Bank of England in notes and bullion is L 9,800,000. The Bank rate of discount remains at 5 per cent., and the market rate at New Zealand securities are unchanged at the following [quotations:—Five per Cent. 10-40 Loan, 104; Five per Cent. 1889 Loan, 104; Four-and-a-half per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, Colonial breadstuffs are firm. Adelaide wheat, ex store, remains at 57s ; New Zealand ditto, 535; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 42 s fd ; Australian tallow —best beef, 39s fid; best mutton, 44s 6d; tallow if in gpod demand.
