NORTH CANTERBURY RACES. The North Canterbury races, held yesterday, were largely attended and very successful. Messrs Mason and Vallance's Fleur-da-Lys won the two principal events. I - AUCKLAND SUMMER MEETING. Auckland, Yesterday. There was splendid weather for to-day’s races at Ellerslie. About 5,000 were present. The totalisators were patronised largely. Derby Stakes. —Peeress colt, 1. Publicans’ Puese. Billingsgate, 1; Maori, 2; Othello, 3. Foul Play, Badswcrth, Maid of Honor, Hilda, Florence’, and Tenamhra were scratched. Auckland Racing Club Handicap.— The Poet, 1. Tim Whiffler and Rand,wick ran a dead heat for second place. Celling Race.— Billingsgate, 1; Vampire, 2. Grand Stand Handicap. Maid of Honor, 1; Paramena, 2; Tenamhra, 3. TATTERSALL’S CUP. Sydney, Yesterday. The race for Tattersall’s Cup to-day resulted as follows:—Lord Orvalle, 1, RosiDante, 2; Valetta, 3.

V. R. 0. SUMMER MEETING. Melbourne, Yesterday. - The New Year’s Day meeting of the Victoria Racing Club took place to-day at Flemington. The weather was cool but iunsettlod. ■ The racing was good. The -Normanby Stakes were won by Navigator, ’wish Solitude second, and Boolka third. 'The Midsummer Handicap was won by Relladrum, Guinea second, Swiveller third. For the Champion Stakes isix horses started namely,: Wellington, 'Santa Claus, Commotion, Goriolanus, S-jShsatear, and Royal Maid.
