N. Z. Grand National. —A. meeting of those interested iu the holding of the next N. Z. Grand meeting in Ashburton was called for this afternoon, at vt'uill’s Hotel, but as there was no attendance, with one or two exceptions, the meeting lapsed. Hospital Returns. —The following are the Hospital returns for the month of December:—lSo. of patients in hospital on the Ist December, 3 ; No. of patients admitted during month December, 9; No. of patients discharged, 2 ; No. of patients in hospital on the 31st, 10. Sunday School Service. —For some two or three years past, the schools connected with the various dissenting denominations in Ashburton have amalgamated and held a sort of thanksgiving rervice on the first Sunday of the year, some capital singing and a few brief addresses being the chief items of the programme. We understand that the Town Hall has been engaged for a similar purpose to-morrow, and a very interesting gathering of Sunday School children, with their friends, is expected. The Revs. Keall, Nixon, and Beattie will give addresses, and Mias Kidd i will preside at the piano. J
