SOUTH RAKAIA SPORTS.

These sports were held yesterday under the auspices of the South Rakaia Odd Fellows Lodge, and it augurs well for the energy displayed that so young a lodge should in so short a time have got up and carried out such a good programme. The weather was perfection, and the proceedings were enlivened during the afternoon by Mr Geo. McDonald, of Seafield, who played several lively airs on his bagpipes. The same gentleman also delighted the youngsters by giving a sum of money for children’s races, in addition to the amount given by the committee. Most of the events were well contested, and altogether a very enjoyable day was spent by those present, the attendance reaching about 500.
