The claim against the ship Pareora for salvage has been settled by the owner paying L 2,000 to the owners of the tug which towed the vessel back to the Thames after she had slipped her cables in the Downs. In the Chamber of Deputies to-day, Signor Mancini, the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, made a statement to the effect that the Italian Government would not recognise the treaty concluded between the Bey of Tunis and France, and was carefully watching the action of the latter country in Tunis. England, Signor Mancini added, has tacitly accepted the Franco-Tunisian treaty.
