Love’s Young Dream. —One of those little incidents which possess a deep interest for gushing young spinsters has just eventuated in Sydney. A young Jewish maiden, the daughter of a very wealthy scion of the House of Israel, has eloped with a bank clerk, and a knot—tougher than the Gordian —has been duly tied. The party are spending the honeymoon at Botany, the new bridegroom attending as usual to his office duties. As the f happy man is a Christian, and the father of the bride a very strict Jew, there is likely to be some trouble over the matter. ■ A Ruffian.— The New Zealand Times says One of those brutal ruffians who are a disgrace to manhood, named Charles Benjamin : Brown, was apprehended in Cuba, street by Detective Benjamin. The officer, while riding in the tram-car in the street named, observed the fellow fell the woman to the ground by a blow delivered in the face, and while lying prone on the earth the coward kicked her on the body. The poor creature managed to regain her feet, when Brown again dealt her another blow, which once moie brought her to the footpath. Detective Benjamin jumped from the car and apprehended the ruffian.
