[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Contraband. Auckland, To-day. Yesterday and to-day the Custom House officers and the police 'made a important seizures of contrabond cigars and unstamped beer, Sixty-one boxes of cigars were taken from a leading firm, Brown, Barratt and Co. Committal of Plummer. Plummer was committed for trial today on three charges of housebreaking and two for sending threatening letters. The May Queen not Ashore. Tauranga telegrams state the May Queen is not ashore ; the ship parted her cable and went into Blind Channel, where she now lies ; she just touches at the stern at low water. A South British office telegram states that the vessel is all right, and no damage has resulted to ship or cargo. Parliament Further Prorogued. Wellington, To-day. Parliament has been further prorogued until Monday, 13th February. Accident to a Costal Steamer. Westport, To-day. The steamer Charles Edward left Greymouth at 4.30 on Wednesday morning, and when off Charleston a portion of the machinery gave way, and she was blown to sea, and only made Buller this pining under sail, towed in.
