In the action Corr, v. the Standard Insurance Company of New Zealand, to recover the insurance on the schooner Alma, in which a verdict was last month returned for the plaintiff, judgment has by order of the Court been postponed. Suspended. The inquiry held by the University Council into a ftacas which occurred at a meeting of the professional Board to the University last week, has resulted in the suspension of Professor Klkington for three months, and Professor Manson fur two months. Sugar. Latest Mauritius advices report that engagements for sugar for Dunedin amount to 750 tons, and for Lyttelton to 200 tons, but none had cleared since November 4th. England Victorious. Sydney, Yesterday. The cricket match between the English Eleven and Eleven of New | South Wales was concluded to-day, and resulted in a victory for the former by 68 runs. The respective scores in each innings were—English, 272 and 162 ; New South Wales. 210 and 156. Of the last named total Massie contributed 76. In the second innings of New South Wales the bowling of the Englishmen was dead on the wicket, and their fielding w'as very good.
