rjio THE ELECTORS OF WAKANUI. Gentlemen, —My political opponents are diligently propagating the lying statement that I am “a Greyite.” At ray first meeting, held at Rakaia, I gave distinct pledge that if elected I would not follow Sir George Grey as a party leader, f«->r reasons which I then explained at length. Having given that pledge, I confess that I have not deemed it necessary to formally repeat it at subsequent meetings, especially as I have always been careful to explain what course I propose to pursue in reference to the Hall Ministry, in the event of my return as your member, which course is quite incompatible with any idea of my being or becoming a follower of Sir George Grey. I now, however, repeat the pledge which I gave at Rakaia, and would ask you to read the portion of my printed address dealing with the subject of the Ministry, where you will find my views on the matter fully expressed.
