Body Snatching. London, Dec.- 2. The body of the late Earl of Crawford and Balcarres was stolen to-day from the mausoleum at Aberdeen. The object of the theft is believed to be to extort a ransom from the relatives of the deceased Earl. Afghan Affairs-
A Blue Book has been issued containing papers and letters in reference to Afghan affairs. One of the documents is g.. communication by the Ameer Abdurrahman to the Viceroy of India,; in which he undertakes to do nothing without the consent of England, and expresses his intention to inform Government of everything that may lake place in Afghanistan, whether good or bad.
Money and the Markets. , Consols are’qhbted at Zealand securities are unchanged. Adelaide and New Zealand breadstuff's are also without quotable change. The total quantity of wheat afloat 1 for Great Britain is 2,500,000 quarters.' Australian tallow remains at yesterday’s quotation. Wool. At the wool sales to-day 8,800 bales were offered. Prices were firmly maintained. Money and the Markets. London, Dec. 3. : There are no changes to report in Consols or New Zealand securities. Australian tallow —best beef has declined 6d per cwt, and best mutton ts. quotations are—beef, 37s 6d ; mutton, Tos 6d. The stock of tallow in London on the Ist inst. was 11,300 casks. Colonial breadstuff’s are without quotable change., ; Judgment Deferred. Vienna, Dec. 3.
The relations between the Austrian and the. Roumanian Government are at the present time much strained over the question of the navigation of the Danube, Austria has in the meantime suspended her diplomatic communication with the Roumanian principality until Count Kalnocky, the new Austrian Premier,, has examined into the points in dispute between the two counties. , Ml Roustan Sacked. Paris, Dec 3. M. Roustan, a French resident at Tunis, has arrived in this city, and it is currently believed that he has been superseded in his position, though nothing definite is yet known. By the Powers! M. Gambetta, President of the Council of Ministers, made a speech to-day, in the course of which he stated that his Government would not object to European control of affairs in Tunis if such were desired by the Powers. Mass Ruling. Washington, Dec. 2. The Irish National Convention sitting at Chicago has passed a resolution in favor of National Government for Ireland, based on the will of the people. Another resolution has been passed, endorsing the no rent agitation which is being carried on by the tenants in Ireland. : ' Bismarck Defeated. Berlin, Dec. 2. At to-day’s sitting of the Reichstag, the proposal submitted by Prince Bismarck for the establishment of an Economic Council of the Empire, was finally discussed. The Chancellor, in a lengthy speech, warmly advocated the adoption of the proposal, but after further debate it was rejected by the by a considerable majority.
