MR WASON AT HINDHOPE.
Mr Wason, in pursuance of advertisement, met the electors of Hindhopeat the school last night. There were J>et»een forty-five and fifty electors present, f Mr Gibson was called to the chak,.,and briefly introduced Mr Wason. Mr Wason, who on rising, was well received, raid he proposed to leview as briefly as possible the events which had , led up to the present state of affairs. After a geaeral review of the political situation, and a comprehensive survey of the/position of the Government and its claims to the support of the country,; dealt with the constitution -of', the. r -lupper House, Local Government, taxation-rand othex.measures, upon all of which already very fully reported hV visws," r and on sitting down, stated his wiitingness to reply to any questions. ..- C -.'..',..,' r In reply to Mr Jones, Mr Wason. stated that the Ashburton County was.,certainly entitled to direct representation upon the Board of Education. :,., '-,'.,;','.' After repeated intimation from-!-the chairman to the electors to ask, questions of Mr Wason, • / V ~• , r An elector called out "I.think,:; Mr Chairman, we are very well pleased -with Mr Wason's views and address,,and don't want to ask him any questions."
