CRICKET.
ASHBURTON V. BOROUGH. The above match terminated last evening, resulting in a victory for the Ashburton Club on the first innings. The game throughout was played with the utmost good humor, and we are pleased to observe that a spirit of healthy eir ulation is being evinced amongst members of the two Clubs, although it is to be regretted that some few cricketers who, in the early days of Ashburton’s history, were always active in the cause of cricket, are now conspicuous by their absence both in practice and in the Club’s matches. The bowling of A. Fooks and Hosking, and the smart fielding of Johnson in the recent match are worthy of mention, and there are other members who only need practice to make them very useful in various capacities.
