ASHBURTON AND MOUNT SOMERS RAILWAY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I am surprised that the letter signed “Progress,” in your issue of Thursday last, has not been taken up by any of our prominent public men, and it is to be hoped that Mr Wright, in hia address to the Ashburton electors this evening, will be able to ventilate the matter a little. It is a matter for regret that such lamentable apathy should be displayed concerning a matter which so vitally affects the future of Ashburton.—l am, &c., Enquirer.
