THE PREMIER AT LEESTON.
Mr Hall addressed a meeting of the electors of Selwyn at Leeston Town Hall, on Saturday night. The Hall was crowded to excess. The chair was occupied by Mr W. J. G. Bluett. Mr Hall delivered a lengthy address, but as the same has already appeared in full in the Christchurch morning papers, we do not propose to repeat it here at the cost of crowding ouc fresh local and other intelligence. At the close of the Premier s speech Mr J. Gardener moved the following resolution;—“ That this meeting expresses its thanks to Mr Hall for h,a aodress and its confidence in him w the representative of the Selwyn district. Seconded by Mr John McLachlan, who remarked that although he did not agree with all Mr Hall’s opinions, he regarded him as without exception the best man they could get to represent their varied resolution was then put to the meeting and carried unanimously, amidst applause. Mr Hall heartily thanked the electors for their vote of confidence, and said that for reasons which they would well understand he would be extremely gratified if returned without a contest. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
