LATEST FROM EUROPE. [per reuter’s agency.] Law on the Bench. London, Nov. 11. It is announced that the Right Hon. Hugh Law, Liberal M.P. for Londonderry County, has been appointed Lord Chancellor of Ireland, vice Lord O’Hagan. Sir Samuel Wilson, the well-known Victorian squatter, has intimated his intention of contesting, in the Conservative interest, the seat for Londonderry, rendered vacant by the appointment of Mr Law. Monetary and Commercial.

Consols are unchanged at The market rate of discount has advanced to per cent.; the bank rate still remains at 5 per cent. New Zealand securities are unchanged. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 565; New Zealand do, 52s 6d ; Adelaide flour, ex store, 41s. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,360,000 quarters. Australian tallow, best beef, has advanced is per cwt, to 395; and best mutton 6d, to 41s 6d. There is only a limited demand for Australian hides, and prices are }id lower. In Course of Formation. M. Gambetta is proceeding with the formation of the new Ministry, in which he takes the position of Premier without portfolio. M. Freycinet is appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs, M. Leon Say Minister for Finance, and General Campenon Minister for War. The other portfolios are yet unfilled.

Alarming. Alexandria, Nov. 11

The cholera epidemic at Mecca is increasing rapidly. The number of deaths has risen to 200 daily, and all recently arrived pilgrims have left the city in consequence of the outbreak.
