The Age to-day publishes a special telegram from London, stating that the Daily News of the 7th inst contains a leading article on the present native crisis in New Zealand, and warmly approves of the vigorous action of the Government in dealing with Te Whiti and his followers. A Legislator Expelled. Sydney, Yesterday. In the Legislative Assembly last night the adjourned debate on the report of the Royal Commissioners on the Milburn creek mine affair was resumed. In the course of the discussion Sir Henry Parkes, Premier, moved—- “ That Mr E. A. Baker, late Minister of Mines, who was found by the report to have appropriated a portion of the compensation money, was unworthy of confidence, and should be expelled from the House.” The motion, after some discussion, was carried by a large majority, the voting being 71 to 2. Mr Baker made a lengthy speech in his own defence, and the debate was finally adjourned to Thursday next, in order that the position of Mr Garrett, the member for Camden, in connection with the enquiry might be taken into consideration.
