[per press association.] The Fire at a Linen Draper’s. Auckland, To-day. Thomas, the man who was injured at Linabury’s fire is not expected to recover. Linabury estimates the damage caused by fire and water at L 1,500. Horse Accident.

Frank Burt was thrown from his horse yesterday and seriously injured; concussion of the brain is feared.

Boating Accidents. Two boat accidents happened in the harbor on Saturday, both without serious Jesuits.

The 8.8. Australia, with the London mails of the 6th ult., left ’Frisco for Auckland on the 22nd inst., contract date. The s.s. City of New York, with the October colonial mails, arrived at ’Frisco on the Ist inst., two days in advance of the time table.

Westport, To-day.

Captain Williams new steamer Westport arrived here from Cardiff at 10.3 this morning, after a twenty-six days* passage, with ten passengers, all well. She sails for Wellington to-morrow morning. The Kennedy v arrived from Caswell Sound to-day. Twenty-six men are working there. The marbles are highly spoken of by the steamer’s people.

One Million Sleepers. Dunedin, To-day.

Messrs Guthrie and Larnach’s tender for the supply of one million railway sleepers has been accepted.
