MOUNT HUTT ROAD BOARD.

The Overseer’s report war read and conaidered. . The Overseer was instructed to give Arthur Webb notice that he having left his contract the Board will re-let the work and ' charge him'tnth the extra expense, If any. u '''“ . ; |:: It waa resolved to give Mr James Daley notice that should he be behind tima with his contract, ’ : he not ; having - started the work,; the full penalty Would be-enforced. Correspondence 1 was - read as follows? — Front'Mr Alexander Orr, -asking the Board to have the road E leading up the river hank, from Highbink Station to Barkers rbftd, opened up. It was resolved to give Mr DoWling notice to remove ' the fences -that cross the ’ road line. —From the same/' 'requesting the Board - to- shingle a portiott- of; Barker’s -'road. It Was proposed by Mr Chapman, seconded by Mr Alington —“ That this Board is prepared to support some such scheme pf disinrge r as that .at the lata'- meeting ‘ or the South Rakaia Road Board and Mount Hutt Road Board, and that ' the plans and estimates, when prepared, be submitted to : the (3quth Buraia Road Board for their co-pperation, and ffnalij: to the County Cpuncil with a request fob their .approval and assistance in carrying it out. 2. Seeing that the amount of acreage benefitted in the South Rakaia Road District is much larger than that of the Mount Hutt District, the proportions in Which the expense should be borne Is—Mount Hutt, one-fourth ; South Rakaia, two-fourths ; and County Council, one-fourth.”

It was resolved to have the district brought under the Local Elections Act immediately. . A letter was read from, Mr W.
