WHAT HE DOES SUPPORT.

Sir,—ln yesterday’s issue you have a paragraph bearing the above heading, in which you -say you have been requested by Mr Ivess to notify “ that he is not a strong supporter of Sir George Grey, but that many of the measures proposed by Sir George Grey have his (Mr Ivess’) full countenance and supportfor which ho doubt Sir George Grey, if he only knew it, would be truly thankful. Now, from this, one would that Mr Ivess is to a certain extent a supporter of . Sir George Grey, and undoubtedly a supporter of many of his measures; But turn to the report of;’.his i(Mr Ivess’) speech at the Town Hall— which, if I am rightly informed, was in type before the speech was delivered, and contains matter strongly resembling what is to be found in Mr Sealey’s pamphlet “ Are We to Stay Here?” —Mr Ivess-says : “I am not. a follower of Sir George Grey,; but ! was a supporter of most of his measures. • ' . In seeking to displace them (i.e., the present Government), it must be plainly understood that I would not support Sir George Grey’s return to power ; ” from which I conclude that he had not only renounced Sir George Grey himself, but all that statesman's measures as well. This is blowing hot and cold with a vengeance. What fresh position will this Protean candidate for Parliamentary honors now assume 1 And how does he (if he can) reconcile the above statements with each other.—l am, &c., Nov. 2. Inquisitive.
