METHVEN.

(from our own correspondent.) A public meeting was held in the Road Board office on Saturday last, to make arrangements for the Methven Annual Sports, Mr Patton in the chair. The meeting was one of the best attended ever held in the district, and the intereast manifested by those present gave fair promiseforthe sports being a success. Last year’s programme was read, and it was decided to have a hurdle race in addition to the hack and trotting match of last ye.:r. The following committee were elected, viz.— W. B. Compton (Chairman), Messrs Farr, Johnston, Scritnajour, Patton, Andrews, Jackson, Gilchrist, Hibbs, and Hemergray (Secretary), D. Cameron, of Clunes (Treasurer). It was decided to hold the sports on Monday, the 2nd of January.
