The following horses have been scratched for the Melbourne Cup : Elastic, The Gem, Kohinoor, Primrose, Royal Maid, Sardonyx, Somerset, Spinningdale, Sangfroid, Tourmaline, Warhawk, Wizard. Evening. The following is the latest belting on the Cup : —Darebin, 4 to x ; Waxy, 5 to 1 ; Trump,Yoss, 10 to 1 ; Duchess, 20 to 1. The following horses still left in are doubtful starters for the Cup;—Bandalbion, Bathurst, The Cockney, Greyhound, Lord Burghley, Monmouth, Orient, Respite, Suwarrow, and Zulu. Melbourne, To-day. The weather is fine. Warlock has been scratched for the Cup. Caught, The two clerks in the employ of Messrs, Kronheimer and Co. who absconded last month, having embezzled LB,ooo, were captured yesterday by the police, and are now in custody. Floated. Telegrams received report that the barque Ehrensvard, which went ashore recently at Java, while on the voyage from Melbourne to Batavia, has been safely floated.
