MOUNT SOMERS SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

♦ A meeting of the above Committee was held on Friday evening, in the schoolroom. Present—Messrs Harvey, Puddicombe, Patton, Price, and Fox. In the absence of the chairman (Mr I. E. Taylor), through illness, Mr Harvey •was voted to the chair. The Committee considered the applications received;for tht post of Master, and ■ it was unanimously decided to accept the application of Mr Henry Collins, of Ashburton. The Secretary was insruoted to write to the Board of Education, requesting 'them to confirm the appointment, in order that the Master may enter upon his duties forthwith. It was resolved that Mr Harvey wait upon the Mount Somers Road Board, at their next meeting, to request the Board to make a proper course for the water to pass the sehool ground, as in time of rain the water stands for some time round the school, flooding the ground, much to the inconvenience and discomfort of the children. 1 It was also resolved that the Secretary be instructed to write to the Board, asking for a grant of LlO or Ll2 for effecting necessary repairs to the schoolroom. It was stated that a fportion of one side of the roof had been stripped during the recent storm, rendering some repairs absolutely necessary before the school can be opened. After some business re advertising accounts had been considered, and a small account for nostage, stationery, &c., had been passed, the meeting terminated with the usual votoipf thanks to the chairman. > * . i
