V.R.O. GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. [by cable.] Melbourne, July 23. The winter steeplechase meeting of the Victorian Racing Club was held to-day a£ Flemington. The weather was fine and there was a good attendance. His Excellency the Governor was present. The following are the results of the two chief events of the day;—Grand National Hurdle Race, three miles—Mr Loughlin’s Sir Peter, i ; Mr Saqui’s Cumberland, 2 ; Mr Winter’s Dhurringle, 3. Thirteen horses started. It was a splendid race, and was won by a neck. Time, smm 42secs. Grand National Steeplechase, three miles—Mr Guyder’s Sussex, 1 ; Mr Loughlin’ Twilight, 2 ; Mr Weeks’ Lucy, 3. Seven horses started. It was a good race and was won by two lengths. Time, 7mm 3secs.
