Affairs iii Tunis. In the House of Commons to-day a question was put to the Premier with a view of ascertaining the intention of the British Government in regard to the present state of affairs in Tunis. In reply Mr Gladstone stated that diplomatic communications were passing between the Foreign Office and the French Government in reference to Tunisian affairs, and some decision would shortly be arrived at as to the action, if any, to be taken by England. Telegrams have been received to-day from Tunis reporting that notwithstanding the success of the French troops at Sfax the insurgents, encouraged by the inactivity recently manifested by the Tunisian forces, are daily increasing in boldness, and are raiding the country in'all directions. To-day bodies of armed and mounted Arabs approached to within a short distance of the city in their predatory incursions, and news to hand from outlying districts reports , that the revolt is still spreading, and that the Arabs are rising to arms in large numbers.
