Public Notices. COUNTY Ploughing Match. Under the auspices of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. THURSDAY, 21st JULY, 1881. In the Paddock ADJOINING THE COUNTY SALEYARDS. Class I—Three-furrow plough. First prize, £6 ; second, £4. Class 2—Two-furrow plough. First prize, £5 ; third, £3. Class 3—Two-furrow plough ; for persons who have never taken a prize. First prize, £4 ; second, £2. Class 4—Single-furrow plough. First prize, £4 ; second £2. Class • s—Single-furrow plough ; for boys under 17. First prize, £4 ; second £2. SPECIAL PRIZES. Friedlander Brothers —Horse collar, for the best team on the ground. Reid and Gray—Set of harrows, value £7, for the best work done with their two or three-furrow ploughs. W. Anderson —Pair of blinkers, for the best kept set of harness. W. Patching—Horse cover, for the best groomed horses. T. Chambers —A pair of watertight boots, for the best finish in the two-furrow class. Poyntz and Co. —Set of Haxton and Beattie’s harrows, for the best ploughing in the field. D. Fitzpatrick — A pair of watertight boots, for the best feering in the boys’ class. P. and D. Duncan—lmplements, value £5, second prize in class 2. ENTRIES must be made with the Secretary not later than 4 o’clock on MONDAY, 18th July. RULES. 1. That the quantity of land to be ploughed be not more than half an acre for single ploughs, and not more than three quarters of an aero for double furrow ploughs. 2. The ploughing to be not less than five inches deep. Each ploughman to commence to the right or left of his ground, to be determined when the land is laid off, and go four times round his feering, then scatter the remainder, making one finish. 3. That teams driven with reins, and under the sole control of the ploughman, only be allowed to enter. 4. That the teams be on the ground by nine o’clock, and ploughing to commence at ten o’clock, at which time a flag will be hoisted, and to end at four o’clock, when the flag will be lowered. 5. That the decision of the Judges shall be final; but any protests against the rules, or for breach thereof, must be made in writing, and handed to the Secretary within one hour after the Judges’ decisions are made known, to be accompanied with a deposit of 10s, the same to be forfeited to the functa of the match should the protest be a frivolous one.
