(Per Southern Cross, at Auckland.) (bt telegraph.) The schooner Windward Ho reports the shooting of one of her boat’s-crew at Pentecost Island. Satisfaction is expressed at the presence of iKo United States frigate in these waters, as the natives who murdered the May Queen crew are believed to be the same as those who murdered Johnson, an American trader, and the American warship is expected to demand reparation. A deputation waited on the Governor to represent the scarcity of labor. The Governor said that owing to the miscalculation by the Agent - General regarding immigration, and the difficulty of obtaining suitable vessels, labor would be scarce this year. Another lot of 150 Coolies have been placed on the estate of the Sugar Refining Company. Measles are still prevalent in some parts of the group.
