At the Supreme Court the charge of perjury against Shepherd, a Whatawhata settler, broke down on a technical flaw in the indictment. The Auckland Arson Case.

The arson case against the brothers Bendon is fixed for Monday. Frightened Away. The Juvenile “Pinafore” Company were summarily brought to Auckland last night, owing to the prevalence of scarlet fever at the Thames. The local Health Board had forbidden the matinee. Mrs Hone Pihama was thrown from a horse whilst on her way to Parihaka and rendered unconscious for some time. She is progressing favorably. The lecturer’s views met with great acceptance, and an unanimous vote of thanks to him was carried. A largo number of his pamphlets, “ Are we to stay here 1” have been sold to-day. Poisoning by Phosphorised Oats. A valuable mare has been poisoned at Winton by eating phosphorised oats.
