From Gintean’s conduct since his arrest it is believed he is insane. Telegrams of condolence have been received by General Garfield from the Queen, Prince of Wales, and Marquis of Lome. Washington, July 4. A bulletin issued this morning reports that President Garfield has not passed so good a night, having only dozed at intervals. He has complained of pains in the abdomen, which the doctors pronounce to be symptoms of tympanites or distention of the abdomen. London, July 4. The attempt on the life of the President of America has caused a profound sensation throughout Europe, and universal sympathy is expressed at his present precarious condition.
