A very large public meeting was held in the Town Hall this evening, to urge upon the Government the necessity for completing the Hokitika-Grey railway, the Hokitika harbor works, and the Mikonui water race. The following re< solution was carried —“ That in view of the large sums of money already expended upon the Hokitika-Grey railway, Hokitika harbor works, and the Mikonui water race, the non-completion of which renders such expenditure valueless (excepting in the case of the harbor works), and in view of the great benefit that would accrue to this district and the colony generally, this meeting strongly urges the Government to take steps to complete the same, so as to retain and increase the population, and develop the chief industries of the country. It was resolved to telegraph copies of the above to the Premier, the Minister for Public Works and Mines, and the representatives of the district.

Customs Revenue. Gueymodth, Yesterday. The Customs’ duties collected at Greymouth last month was L 2,637, and for the corresponding month in 1880, L 3,728. The Customs for the June quarter were L 7.731, and for the corresponding quarter in 1880, L 9,542. The gold duty for the quarter amounted to L 1,702. Small Fox. Dunedin, Yesterday.
