UPPER ASHBURTON ROAD BOARD

The ordinary monthly meeting of .this Board was held on Monday last, .alt the members being present overseer's report. , The Overseer reported several necessary works requiring immediate repur. ' ‘ CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read from ratepayers in that portion qf the district known as Tancred and Allen’s;' asking that certain- roads might: be made ,passable.—Mr McLean thought that provision should be made by owners, when cutting up their properties and laying off streets and roads, that they should be made and - metalled by the proprietors, and dedicated before the Board go to any expend!- „. ture.—Mr Williamson coincided with Mr - McLean. LIABILITIES AND ASSETS. , The Clerk,submitted a statement of the .‘inabilities and assets of the Board, and wka ; requested to forward a copy of the same to tha Rangitata Road Board. . 1... A ’DISPUTED ACCOUNT. * The Clerk was directed to write to Messrs Harper and Harper, asking their ‘l V opinion as to the Board’s liability to pay Messrs Furneanx and Co.’s account. A RATE. A rate of One shilling in the pound on • all rateable property in the district was .. struck, to be payable on or before the Slat day of July next. . PLOUGHING. The Surveyor was requested to have a ploughed furrow made ou the Maronan and Tinwald road and the cross road into Winslow. •> TENSER. ’ Tenders were opened for repairs on the ' Domain road, as advertised, and resulted in the acceptance of Charles Sheppard’s tender at LlO 10s.
