Stock Sales. Messrs Matson, Cox and Co. held their usual fortnightly auction sale at the Ashburton Yards last Tuesday. The entries, compriaeed 1277 sheep, a lot of pigs, and 77 head of cattle, most of which were sold ' at satisfactory prices, although thebiddings for sheep seemed to drag very much for the last two sales. The prices realised were as follows :— Sheep—165_ merino ewes, in lamb, 7s 6d ; 103 merino ewes and wethers, 4a ; 138 do. do., 7s 7d , 205 merino wethers, 6a 4d ; 119 mixed ewes and wethers, 8a Id ; 243 crossbred ewes, 12s 7d; 61 merino wethers, 8s 3d. Cattle — Fat cow, L 6 ss; fat steers, from L4to L 8 12s 6d ; cows, springers, from L 5 2s 6d to 19 10s; heifers, L3ss 6d to L 4; yearlings, L2 to L2 12s ; calves, 18s 6d to LI 6s. Pigs, LI 5s 6d. Horses, from L66s to L 23. ———
