Wanganui, To-day.
The Exhibition closed on Saturday. The total number of visitors (exclusive of season ticket-holders) was 7,500, the receipts being LSG6. The profits are to be devoted to the Public Library.
Drowned. Blenheim, To-day. A telegram from Havelock reports that a man named Peter Gorrie was drowned in a creek at the foot of Tara hill, on his way to Nelson on Saturday night. The body has.been found. More Water than Fire. Dunedin, To-day. A fire occurred in the upper part of Gilchrist’s papei-hanging shop. He estimates his loss, through damage by water, at LI,000; insured for LSOO in the National, Victoria, Standard, South British, and New Zealand offices. Temporary Insanity. The inquest ou the body of Cotterill resulted in a verdict of temporary insanity.
