The Land Bi’L In the House of Commons consideration of the Irish Land Bill in Committee was resumed on thegth inst., after the Whitsuntide recess, and has continued at each day’s sitting since that date.
London, June 14
In the’House of Commons last night; in the course of the debate on the Irish Land Bill, the Right Hon. W. E. Gladstone made a speech in which he remonstrated against the action of the Opposition towards the Bill, and hinted that the Government was prepared, if necessary, to demand “urgency,” in order to insure its speedy passage through the House.
Prance and Algiers. Paris, June 13.
Intelligence has been received from Algiers that an engagement has taken place between French trcops and a body of Algerian insurgents. The latter were totally defeated, with a loss of 50 killed.
