LONGBEACH ROAD DISTRICT.

His Excellency the Goveinor has proclaimed the sub-division of this district into five Wards, as set forth in a petition received by him praying that such should be done. A Gazette just to hand, dated 9th June, contains the boundaries of the,, sub-divisions, and the members assigned to each. The schedules are as follow : FIRST SCHEDULE. No. 1 Ward : Bounded on the northwest by the Great Southern Railway ; on the south-west by the Hind;; river ; on the south-east by Boundary road ; and on the north-east by the Ashburton rivar. No. 2 Ward : Bounded on the northwest by part of No. 1 Ward ; on the west and south-west by Longbeach road, Bell’s road, Dawson’s road, Waterton new road, Waterton main road, Moore’s road, Lowerbeach road, and the division-lines between rural sections Nos. 20578 and 20430, 20962 and 20439, to the sea ; on the south-east by the sea; and on the north-east by the Ashburton river. No. 3 Ward : Bounded on the northwest by part of No 1 Ward ; on the southwest and west by the Hinds river as far as Surveyor’s road, and from thence to the sea by the boundary drain and fence between the Longbeach and Lowcliff estates; on the seuth-east by the sea ; and on the north-east and east by No. 2 Ward. No. 4 Ward : Bounded on the northwest by the Great Southern Railway ; on the west and south-west by Coldstream road, Rye’s road, Brogden’s road, and a line through rural section No. 13812 in continuation of and from Brogden’s road to the sea ; on the south-east by the sea ; and on the east and north-east by Nos. 3 and 1 Wards.

No 5 Ward : Bounded on the north by the Great Southern Railway-line as made; on the south-west by the Rangitata river ; on the south-east by the sea ; and on the north-east and east by No. 4 Ward. SECOND SCHEDULE. No. 1 Ward, John Carter No. 2 Ward, Thomas Taylor; No. 3 Ward, John Grigg ; No. 4 Ward, Edward Henry Dobson ; No. 5 Ward, Stephen S. Chapman.
