CONFERENCE OF DELEGATES FROM LOCAL BODIES.

■Wellington, June 11. The Hon. W.’ Gisborne has given notice that during the present sitting of - the Conference of delegates, . representing local governing bodies In,Hew Zealand, he will move the following motions: —“ (1.) That Crown lands 1 should be rated, and the proceeds equitably distributed, among local governing bodies. (2.) That County Councils be subsidised by the colony at per mile of main roads maintained by such Councils. (3/) That the . County Council Chairman be an ex officio member of the Waste Lands Board, having jurisdiction over the County. (4.) That the 20 per cent of the Land Revenue, taken away by the Financial Arrangements Act 1880,, should be restored to the County Councils.” At to-day’s meeting of the' Conference the following motion by Mr M'Arthur was carried “ That it is absolutely necessary some assistance in the shape of subsidy should be given to the local bodies to enable, them to. complete the construction of roads within districts heretofore sold by Government and wholly or partially settled, Government having , failed to provide for these necessary works out of the proceeds of sale of such district in tirnespast^’^^^^
