RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

TEMUKA— Yesterday. (Before Nugent Wood, Esq.,, R.M., and S. D. Barker, Esq., J.P.) Assault Case.— Hntt v. Thomas T. Palmer. The defendant in this, case asked the Bench to allow the case to stand over until Mr Hamersley,. his solicitor,‘was in attendance. The Court granted a remand till Monday next, CIVIL CASES. Thomas Trengrove v. N. P. Burns, claim L 5, together with interest, L 3 6s Bd. No appearance of defendant. Judgment for amount claimed and costs, LI 17s. The plaintiff asked for an order for immediate execution, which was granted. Hutt iv: Thomas E.' Palmer, claim LI Is,' for work and labor done. The defendant paid into Court the sum of LI Is, and judgment was given for costs, 7s. The Court then adjourned to 3 o’clock to consider a case of lunacy preferred against Thomas E. Palmer, but in the meantime the prisoner had escaped, as detailed in another column.
